Help!

So what's it all about ?

This website is about the village of Sudbrook in Monmouthshire, UK. Historically this village is significant, the area having been active since the Iron Age, through to Roman Times. It has played a role as a major crossing point across the Severn throughout history.

More recently the village housed the workers of the Severn Tunnel and is home to the Pumping Station that is essential to keep the tunnel from flooding. It also once even had its own ship yard.

We have collected references to Sudbrook's past, and added modern day information into a fantastic on-line database.

How do I get to see this information?

You can:
  • click on one of the menu themes by the search box,
  • enter a keyword such as a name or year, or
  • click on one of the images at the bottom of the screen.
If our database has found something you will see the results listed chronologically. You can select the one that seems relevant or click on the 'slide show' link which will allow you to browse your way through all the hits one by one. Sometimes you will have only text, sometimes an image or a movie.
